Mariners’ Power Shows Up, But One Crooked Inning Spoils the Night
Seattle did enough damage to make Thursday night interesting: three home runs, nine hits, and a late push at Camden Yards. But the Orioles’ six-run third inning turned the game, and the Mariners spent the rest of the night chasing in a 7–5 loss.
Cole Young opened the game with a homer and finished 3-for-5, while Luke Raley and Dominic Canzone also went deep. Julio Rodríguez added two hits and an RBI. The problem was the mound: Bryan Woo was tagged for seven earned runs on seven hits over five innings, with Baltimore doing nearly all of its work in that decisive third.
The loss dropped Seattle to 36–34, a familiar June place: still very much in the American League mix, but with little margin for sloppy innings. The good news is the lineup showed life; the next test is carrying that thunder into Washington tonight.

Seattle Mariners
Three Homers Aren’t Enough in Baltimore
The Mariners lost 7–5 to the Orioles last night despite a lively offensive night. Seattle hit three homers — Cole Young, Luke Raley, and Dominic Canzone — and got a multi-hit night from Julio Rodríguez, but Baltimore’s six-run third against Bryan Woo was the clear hinge.
- Standout hitters: Cole Young 3-for-5 with a leadoff homer; Julio Rodríguez 2-for-4 with an RBI; Luke Raley and Dominic Canzone each homered.
- Pitching note: Bryan Woo took the loss after allowing 7 ER in 5.0 IP; Alex Hoppe and Nick Davila combined for three scoreless relief innings.
- Implication: Seattle is 36–34 — above .500, but nights like this sting because the offense gave them a path back.
What to watch next: Mariners at Nationals tonight. ESPN listed Washington’s probable starter as Zack Littell; Seattle’s probable starter was not clearly shown in the morning feed I checked.
